A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in width overall consisting of a white disc within a scarlet annulet surmounted horizontally overall by a black slotted clamp bearing a heraldic fountain at center all between MISSION above and SUPPORT below inscribed on the annulet in gold letters.
The slotted clamps ability to operate efficiently in various positions and from firm to movable tension in its operation is symbolic of the overall mission of the organization. The annulet and white disc simulate the O and Buckeye on the Ohio State flag and refer to the units home area. The fountain denotes the lakes and waters, the white disc alludes to sand and the clamp simulates a C, and all refer to the Cleveland area, the units present home.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 7 April 1971.
